The Hospital Management invites applications from qualified candidates for the following positions:-

1.    DEPUTY DIRECTOR (NURSING SERVICES), JOB GROUP K2 (1 POST)

Job Purpose            
The Deputy Director (Nursing Services) will be to reporting the Chief Executive Officer and will be responsible and accountable for the delivery of nursing services at the Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
•    Develop, maintain and implement nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice and operational policies while maintaining compliance with National laws and regulations.
•    Communicate and interpret policies and procedures to nursing staff and monitor their practices and implementation.
•    Coordinate patient care activities in collaboration with nurse managers, administrative and other technical personnel in the Hospital.
•    Develop nursing standards and play a leading role in their implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
•    Advice the Management and the Board on all nursing related policy issues.
•    Ensure that the planning and delivery of nursing services address and meet the changing needs of clients.
•    Evaluate the work performance of nursing personnel, participate in the recruitment, career development and discipline according to policies in operation.
•    Review 24-hour report from every unit daily to monitor and ensure timely and effective responses to significant changes in condition and care of patients that need special attention.
•    Collaborate with consultants, administrative and other medical staff to improve the quality of services to patients and to resolve identified problems.
•    Participate in the development and implementation strategic plans for nursing services.
•    Ensure that the staff in the division remain motivated to discharge their responsibilities effectively and efficiently.
•    Participate in the preparation of the Hospital budget and ensure proper utilization of allocated funds.
•    Prepare employees for the desired changes in working styles, attitudes and work ethics.
•    Spearhead culture change to improve the Hospital image.
•    Promote quality assurance activities leading to ISO Certification in the Hospital.
•    Prepare periodic reports as required by Management.



Qualifications and experience
•    Masters degree in Nursing (MSN) from a recognized university.
•    A higher diploma or bachelors degree in nursing (BSN) from a recognised university
•    At least one post basic qualification
•    At least five (5) years experience and service in a senior management position at least at the level of Assistant Chief Nurse or above in a large Hospital.
•    Evidence of at least one (1) month training in general management.
•    Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD
•    Registration with the Nursing Council and possession of a current retention certificate.

The position is on a three (3) year renewable contract subject to satisfactory performance.

2.    SENIOR ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, HUMAN RESOURCE & ADMINISTRATION, K2 (1 POST)

Overall Responsibility:            
Reporting to the Deputy Director (Administration & Finance), the overall responsibility of the Senior Assistant Director, Human Resource & Administration will be to ensure implementation of the best human resource management practices and advise on appropriate strategies and policies to support the achievement of corporate objectives.
Objectives:
•    Attract and retain competent staff
•    Continuous staff development and appraisal
•    Fair and equitable compensation of employees
•    Management of harmonious employee relations
•    Maintenance of appropriate working environment
•    Effective cost control
•    Good Corporate Governance

Key Tasks and responsibilities

•    Provide transformational leadership and administrative direction to the Heads of Department.
•    Formulate and implement Human Resource policies and strategies.
•    Set performance targets for the Human Resource Department and ensure that they are achieved.
•    Advise Managers on appropriate human resource management policies and strategies.
•    Ensure effective staff recruitment.
•    Plan and direct employee development, performance and career management programs.
•    Develop and ensure implementation of reward systems and remuneration policies and strategies that attract, retain and motivate employees.
•    Formulate, recommend and implement Human Resource welfare schemes and policies.
•    Ensure proper maintenance of Human Resource database.
•    Prepare Human Resource annual budget and work plan.
•    Provide employee counseling services.
•    Review organizational structures.

Qualifications and Experience
•    Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration (HR Option) or its equivalent from a recognized university.
•    A Higher National Diploma in Human Resource Management from a recognized institution/CPS (K)
•    Working experience of at least ten (10) years, three (3) of which must be at a senior level.
•    Demonstrated proficiency in human resource management information systems.
•    Proven experience in Human Resource Training and Talent management will be an added advantage.
•    Must be a member of a Human Resource professional body (IHRM).

Personal Attributes:    
•    Ability to function as part of a Senior Management team.
•    Skills in strategic analysis and planning of human resource.
•    Ability to lead change management in a complex health care environment.
•    Understanding of financial management and experience in managing budgets.
•    Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.

The position is on a three (3) year renewable contract subject to satisfactory performance.
